Focus Areas

Medical & Health:  I bring a rich understanding of the medical world, having worked for many years as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN). This background allows me to connect deeply with clients dealing with chronic illnesses, such as autoimmune disorders, hormone shifts and those who may find themselves overwhelmed by the medical system. I understand firsthand how difficult it can be to be a patient, and I enjoy supporting individuals in managing the emotional and psychological aspects of their health journey.

Trauma & Veterans: Though I am not a veteran myself, I have had the privilege of working with veterans and truly enjoy supporting this population. I have gained valuable experience working with individuals who have served, and I am passionate about helping them heal from the trauma they may have experienced.

Cultural Adjustment: Having grown up in a family shaped by the refugee experience—my grandfather being a survivor of genocide—I have a personal understanding of the intergenerational trauma that can emerge from such experiences. This history has profoundly influenced my approach to therapy, especially when working with first-generation clients and immigrant families. I appreciate the unique struggles these individuals face, as they navigate both cultural identities and the pressure of generational expectations.

Approach

I am a warm, empathetic, and supportive therapist dedicated to providing person-centered care to individuals facing life's challenges. With extensive experience in helping clients navigate trauma, health concerns, and life transitions, I focus on creating a safe and non-judgmental space where clients feel heard, valued, and understood.

My approach is grounded in the belief that every individual has the strength and resilience to heal and grow. I tailor my therapeutic techniques to meet each client’s unique needs, ensuring that the treatment plan aligns with their personal goals and journey toward wellness. Whether addressing past trauma, managing health-related stress, or navigating life’s significant transitions, I aim to empower my clients to discover and build on their own inner resources. I am LGBT+ affirming Ally and inclusive of all cultures and walks of life. Above all, I am committed to walking alongside my clients as they navigate their personal growth and healing, providing a compassionate and understanding presence every step of the way. My goal is to help clients not only overcome their challenges but also develop the tools to thrive in all areas of life.

Qualifications

Having dual careers, I have had the unique opportunity to work in both the medical and mental health fields, which has shaped my approach to therapy. Before transitioning to a career as a mental health therapist, I worked as a Registered Dietitian, where I developed a deep understanding of the medical world and the intersection between physical and emotional well-being. This experience informs my work today, especially when helping clients manage chronic health conditions or navigate the complex medical system.

I earned my Master’s in Counseling from Kent State University, and I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) with Supervisor designation. Over the years, I have gained invaluable experience by working in various mental health practices, where I have had the privilege of supporting a diverse range of clients. These experiences have allowed me to develop a well-rounded approach to therapy, adapting to the unique needs of each individual and helping them navigate life's challenges.

I believe that learning and growing as a professional is essential to providing the best care possible. That’s why I continue to explore and implement new, evidence-based practices to support my clients' journeys toward healing. In addition to traditional cognitive behavior therapy and dialectical behavioral therapy, I have training in several specialized therapeutic modalities, including Emotion Focused Therapy & Gottman Method, which I use to work with couples, and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), which has proven to be effective for clients dealing with past trauma and distressing memories. I have a special interest in working with women who are navigating the changes and challenges of menopause, providing them with support during this transformative stage of life.

Through my diverse background, both in the medical and mental health fields, I have cultivated a holistic approach to therapy, and I am passionate about helping my clients lead healthier, more fulfilling lives.

Personal Information

Outside of my work as a therapist, I am a lifelong learner with a passion for exploring new cultures and languages. Currently, I'm focused on learning Polish, which I find both exciting and challenging. I also love to spend time outdoors, especially kayaking in the summer, where I find peace and relaxation in nature.

A personal interest of mine is discovering old family recipes and stores, which connects me to my roots. Right now, I’m also working on researching my grandfather's journey—his story is an important part of my family history, and I'm excited to learn more about the experiences that shaped him and his legacy.

I’m married and have two children. My family is a huge part of my life, and I love to travel with them, explore new places, and share new experiences. We also enjoy going to concerts together and hiking on the weekends.

These experiences and interests shape the way I relate to others and I carry a sense of curiosity, connection, and openness into my work with clients.
